Gathering Materials in FFXIV Island Sanctuary
When you first arrive at yourIsland Sanctuary, the Felicitous Furball will instruct you to gather a few basic materials. However, even with Gather mode enabled, it might not be totally obvious as to how you can actually gather items.

This won’t be necessary once you’ve progressed and crafted your first tools, and the gathering nodes will appear on the mini-map as you roam around.
Most of the items here can be gathered without any tools. However, once you complete the first tutorial quest for the Felicitous Furball, you’ll start learning how to craft tools, which will give you access to more advanced materials to gather on the island. The gathering process is still the same: just right-click a gathering node when you see it.
