The history of this weapon predates back to when Aegon the Conqueror wielded it in several battles with the incredible power of its Valyrian steel.
After the sword was passed down to the next generation, it ended up in the hands of Daemon Waters (also known as Daemon Blackfyre), a bastard son of Daena and Aegon IV Targaryen. Once Daemon receives the weapon from his father, many believe he will become heir to Aegon, which angers Daeron II Targaryen and causes the later rebellions. Shortly after this, Daemon develops House Blackfyre, a name that is an homage to the great sword.
